At the end of September 2021 my wife and I traveled to New York City, specifically Manhattan for the first time.. Having both grown up in the Pacific Northwest we have traveled up and down the west Coast, and many of the western states, Hawaii, Mexico, and Canada. Neither of us had visited New York City so we decided it was time. Traveling during Covid can be a bit uncertain but things in New York were relatively stable so we felt comfortable visiting. The images in this monograph are slices of our trip as we viewed the city for the first time.
There were two things that struck us with New York City. The first was the sheer number of skyscrapers and tall buildings visible from one end of Manhattan to the other. The tall buildings stretched as far as the eye could see. The second thing was the continuous stream of people on the street. Many I am sure were tourists like ourselves but also the many residents who live and work on this large island. We stayed on the upper west side in a residential area at Hotel Beacon.
We walked many miles the first day venturing through Central Park all the way down to Times Square. On the third day we decided to experience the subway and by the end of the trip we had become pros moving around using it.
In this monograph are a mix of photos of the city and the sites we saw. We didn’t see everything but hope this gives you a sense of the New York from our viewpoint. This was our first visit to the city but we will visit again.
